Creve Coeur was incorporated in 1949. The City of Creve Coeur got it's name from Creve Coeur Lake. According to the city's website the tale goes that the lake "formed itself into a broken heart" after an Indian princess's unrequited love for a French fur trapper led her to jump "from a ledge overlooking" the lake. Located west of St. Louis, Creve Coeur is home of the infamous Creve Coeur Lake, which is the largest natural lake in Missouri. Creve Coeur offers multiple serene neighborhoods and a lively Local Farmers Market. As of today, there are 17,833 people that call Creve Coeur home.
